CLCV is pleased that Senate President pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg has recommended the reappointment of Coastal Commission Chairwoman Mary Shallenberger. Chairwoman Shallenberger is the longest serving member of the commission and a strong champion for California’s coast and our environment. She provides the commission with critical institutional memory—all the more important given the loss of passionate coastal advocate Peter Douglas—and we know she will continue to stand up for California’s coast and all Californians. We thank pro Tem Steinberg for his leadership and dedication to defending the coast for future generations, as exemplified by his excellent decision to reappoint Chairwoman Shallenberger.
